Basketball Game Preview: Mayville Cardinals vs. St. Mary's Springs Ledgers

The Mayville Cardinals will head out to take on the St. Mary's Springs Ledgers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, Mayville earned a 66-58 win over Laconia. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Cardinals' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 317th, while the Spartans are ranked 62nd).

Meanwhile, St. Mary's Springs didn't have too much trouble with Omro on Tuesday as they won 80-62. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Ledgers.

St. Mary's Springs has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.1 points per game. As for Mayville, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.

Everything came up roses for Mayville against St. Mary's Springs in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the team secured an 85-56 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mayville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
