Baseball Recap: Western Tech & Environmental Science Wins Going Away Against Lansdowne

Western Tech & Environmental Science got themselves on the board against Lansdowne on Friday, but Lansdowne never followed suit. They blew past the Vikings 9-0. Considering the Wolverines have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Harlan Sammons made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Western Tech & Environmental Science is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise. Sammons was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Connor Brown was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anthony Slaughter, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.

Western Tech & Environmental Science always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lansdowne only posted an OBP of .286.

Western Tech & Environmental Science has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Lansdowne, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11-1 record this season.
