Recap: Lincoln Prep Panthers vs. Ouachita Christian Eagles
The Lincoln Prep Panthers came tearing into Thursday's match with 14 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 61-26 win over Ouachita Christian. Given Lincoln Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Ouachita Christian is ranked 305th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lincoln Prep was led to victory by Joseph Spann and Stephen Burks. Spann scored 21 points, while Burks dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Burks hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Amarjae Young, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Lincoln Prep's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.4 points per game. As for Ouachita Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-17 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln Prep won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Union Parish at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. One thing working in Lincoln Prep's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven games. As for Ouachita Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge Georgetown at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
