Basketball Recap: Hampton Park Christian vs. Our Lady of the Rosary Lions
Hampton Park Christian waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. Everything went their way against Our Lady of the Rosary as Hampton Park Christian made off with a 51-30 win. Hampton Park Christian has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Trevor Gearhart was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last nine games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Smith, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Hampton Park Christian pushed their record up to 12-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points per game. As for Our Lady of the Rosary, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hampton Park Christian will square off against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westgate Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 254th, while the are ranked 70th). As for Our Lady of the Rosary, they will head out on the road to square off against the at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Newberry Academy will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
