Javion Vines-Holder leads Vance County to 94-point performance, needing just 13 pass attempts to tie record.

Javion Vines-Holder of Vance County (Henderson) tied the North Carolina state record by passing for 10 touchdowns in a 94-18 win over Granville Central last Friday. See highlights from the historic performance in the video.

Vines-Holder tossed seven touchdown passes in the first half and three more in the second half to tie the state record set by Wyatt Holland of Midway (Dunn) in 2021.

With the score 74-12 at halftime, Vines-Holder continued at quarterback in the second half.

"We play with class all the time and this is something I've never done or been a part of," Vance County head coach Aaron Elliott said in an interview with High School OT. "I gave him the opportunity to (break the state record.)"
According to stats submitted to MaxPreps, Vines-Holder completed 13 of 20 passes for 313 yards, ran for 39 yards, converted a 2-point conversion and intercepted a pass on defense, the fifth of his career.

Two of his receivers also had career days as senior Ronald Rainey III turned all three of his receptions in to touchdowns, tallying up 141 yards in the process.

Junior Antoine Doyle Jr. had six catches for 90 yards and got into the end zone five times for the 7-0 Vipers.

On the season Vines-Holder has 17 passing touchdowns and just one interception. Also a dangerous runner, the 5-foot-11, 155-pound junior also has 369 rushing yards and six scores.
