Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Higley's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

Higley hadn't done well against Gilbert recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Higley Knights came out on top against the Gilbert Tigers by a score of 71-59. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Tigers are ranked 96th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Higley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Donovan Dabney out in front who went 11-for-13 en route to 25 points and eight rebounds. That's the most points Dabney has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gavin Dabney, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 20 points and five boards.

Higley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.5 points over those games. As for Gilbert, their loss dropped their record down to 9-13.

Higley has already played their next matchup, a 59-53 defeat against Williams Field on the 12th. As for Gilbert, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 77-60 loss against Highland on the 13th.
