Baseball Game Preview: Westampton Tech Panthers vs. Camden County Vo-Tech Warriors

The Westampton Tech Panthers will head out to square off against the Camden County Vo-Tech Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Westampton Tech will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Westampton Tech came out on top against Willingboro on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive 16-run seventh inning. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over the Chinmeras. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Chinmeras: they've now won six in a row.

David Torres was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Westampton Tech: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Westampton Tech got a massive performance out of Dominic Gore-Brown, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave Gore-Brown a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Angelo Amicucci, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Westampton Tech kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Camden County Vo-Tech got themselves on the board against Gloucester County Christian on Friday, but Gloucester County Christian never followed suit. They came out on top against the Conquerors by a score of 10-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The high-scoring effort was just what the Warriors needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Westampton Tech's record now sits at 7-3. As for Camden County Vo-Tech, their record is now 5-9.

Westampton Tech couldn't quite finish off Camden County Vo-Tech in their previous meeting back in April of 2017 and fell 7-5. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
