Game recap: Maxwell High School Football Team tops Fall River

MCARTHUR, Calif. - Maxwell (Calif.) snapped the seven-game winning streak of Fall River (McArthur, Calif.), with a 35-7 victory on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a Blake Vierra touchdown run in the first quarter, the Panthers led 14-0 at the half.

Maxwell expanded its lead to 28 points entering the fourth quarter. MHS scored two times in the third, including once on a Vierra touchdown run.

Vierra and Brian Burg ran for a bunch of touchdowns for the Bulldogs. Vierra scored three touchdowns on the ground and Burg added two as well.

Fall River's only touchdown came on a 47-yard run by Jonathon Westlund in the fourth quarter.



The Panthers went into the matchup giving up only 13.6 points per game. Fall River's seven points were well below its season average of 18.1 per game.

The defeat comes as a step back for Fall River, which notched a 28-21 victory over Biggs in its previous outing.
