Baseball Game Preview: Slinger Owls vs. Kettle Moraine Lutheran Chargers

The Slinger Owls will take on the Kettle Moraine Lutheran Chargers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Slinger 2.8, Kettle Moraine Lutheran 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Slinger headed into their last match having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but West Bend West let them put that streak behind them. The Owls' pitcher stepped up to hand the Spartans an 11-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Owls, who have now won ten contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Jackson Naber's shutout, as he gave up just five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Macay Wagner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Cooper Williams was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Slinger always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Bend West only posted an OBP of .348.

Meanwhile, Kettle Moraine Lutheran unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (2-1), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Kettle Moraine Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 19-6. As for Slinger, their victory bumped their record up to 19-5.

Slinger was able to grind out a solid win over Kettle Moraine Lutheran in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 6-2. Will the Owls repeat their success, or do the Chargers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
