Basketball Recap: Julian Perez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Camp Verde over Fountain Hills

Camp Verde lost against Fountain Hills back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Camp Verde Cowboys lost 56-31 to the Fountain Hills Falcons. The contest marked the Cowboys' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Several Cowboys players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Julian Perez, who went 6 for 10 en route to 14 points and five boards. Perez has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Gage Russell, who posted five points and three steals.

Lucas Grieco was a one-man wrecking crew for Fountain Hills as he went 6 of 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 21 points. The dominant performance gave Grieco a new career-high in points. Max Bleaman was another key player, putting up ten points.

Camp Verde dropped their record down to 9-10 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Fountain Hills, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Camp Verde wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 47-44 victory against Anthem Prep on the 17th. As for Fountain Hills, they will face off against Highland Prep West at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
