Recap: Monsignor Scanlan Crusaders vs. Monroe-Woodbury Crusaders
On Saturday, Monsignor Scanlan came up short against Monroe-Woodbury and fell 65-52. While losing is never fun, Monsignor Scanlan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while Monroe-Woodbury is ranked 26th).
Monroe-Woodbury's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kyle McDermott, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. Christopher Pearson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Monsignor Scanlan's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Monroe-Woodbury, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Monsignor Scanlan will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on St. Francis Prep at 4:15 p.m. on January 9, 2024. Monroe-Woodbury will be home for the holidays to greet Beacon at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
