Basketball Recap: Ellsworth Lancers vs. Boyne Falls Loggers

The Ellsworth Lancers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 72-20 win over Boyne Falls at home. That 52 point margin sets a new team best for Ellsworth this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ellsworth to victory, but perhaps none more so than Patrick Puroll, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Puroll has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Billy Hopp, who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 2 assists.

The victory was the third in a row for Ellsworth, bringing their record for this year to 6-9. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Boyne Falls, their loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ellsworth won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Comets at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. As for Boyne Falls, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Vikings at 5:30 p.m.
