The Eastern Montgomery Mustangs will venture away from home to square off against the Roanoke Catholic Celtics at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Roanoke Catholic took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Eastern Montgomery, who comes in off a win.
On Monday, Eastern Montgomery made easy work of Giles and carried off a 10-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.
Austin Tate and Maze Cox made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Tate pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Cox pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, Tate gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Tate scored three runs while going 4-for-4, while Cox went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Mason Phoenix and Coltin Conner did most of the damage at the plate: Phoenix went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Conner scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two hits gave Phoenix a new career-high. Cam Sutphin was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Eastern Montgomery was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Giles only posted a batting average of .222.
Meanwhile, Roanoke Catholic came up short against Blue Ridge on Friday, falling 15-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Celtics in their meetings with the Barons: they've now lost six in a row.
Roanoke Catholic saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Peck, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. William Poff also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Roanoke Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Eastern Montgomery, their record now sits at 2-0-1.
Roanoke Catholic's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Eastern Montgomery hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .376. It's a different story for Roanoke Catholic, though, as they've only averaged .236. Will they be able to contain Eastern Montgomery's hitters?
Everything went Eastern Montgomery's way against Roanoke Catholic in their previous matchup on Thursday, as Eastern Montgomery made off with a 17-6 win.
