Basketball Recap: Boles Takes a Loss

After flying high against Pioneer Technology & Arts Academy last Friday, Boles came back down to earth. The Boles Hornets fell 54-41 to the Cooper Bulldogs on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 88-48 back in January.

Despite the loss, Boles still got an impressive performance from Zion Mcfadden, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds. The matchup was Mcfadden's fourth in a row with at least 17 points. Layton Morgan was another key player, putting up five points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Boles smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games.

Cooper's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Devin Dial, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds. Those ten boards gave Dial a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of John Ramos, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.

Boles dropped their record down to 15-14 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Cooper, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a massive bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Boles has already played their next matchup, a 76-69 victory against Cumby on the 31st. As for Cooper, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 95-32 win against Pioneer Technology & Arts Academy on the 31st.
