Christ the Cornerstone Academy was handed a three-set defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They skirted past the Sandhills Classical Christian Lions 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Defenders: when they faced off against the Lions last Monday, they had to take a 3-1 loss.

Christ the Cornerstone Academy took Sandhills Classical Christian into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. The final score came out to 25-12, 12-25, 23-25, 25-13, 15-10.

Sandhills Classical Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jersi Olsen, who had 11 digs, ten kills, and one block. Olsen is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had seven or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Camryn Hudgins, who had six kills, four digs, three aces, and two blocks.

Christ the Cornerstone Academy's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Sandhills Classical Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

Coming up, Christ the Cornerstone Academy will head out on the road to face off against Antioch Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sandhills Classical Christian, after both having extra time off, they and Father Capodanno will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 4:00 p.m. on the 20th.
