Preview: Fort Wayne South Side Archers vs. Heritage Patriots
The Fort Wayne South Side Archers's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Heritage Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Saturday, Fort Wayne South Side took a serious blow against Pike, falling 56-23. While losing is never fun, Fort Wayne South Side can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 308th, while Pike is ranked 76th).
Meanwhile, Heritage's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Woodlan an easy 58-35 victory. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Heritage in their matchups with Woodlan: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite their loss, Heritage saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Grace Guenthner, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Danica Fuller, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Heritage were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Fort Wayne South Side bumped their record down to 2-10 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.7 points per game. As for Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.
