Basketball Recap: La Salle Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

If Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played La Salle, they should've done a better job of containing Emmitt Claiborne. The La Salle Lancers were the clear victor by a 68-43 margin over the Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary Cardinals on Monday thanks in part to Claiborne, who went 8 of 18 en route to 21 points and eight rebounds. That's the most boards he has posted since back in November of 2024.

Another player making a difference was Enzo Trejo, who posted five points. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games.

When it comes to explaining why Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary lost, don't look at Jose Padilla. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 20 on his way to 19 points. The contest was Padilla's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aldo Herrera, who earned six points and eight rebounds.

La Salle's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-16. As for Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-10.

La Salle will have a chance to go back-to-back against Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
