Baseball Game Preview: Liberty Common Eagles vs. Peak to Peak Pumas

The Liberty Common Eagles will face off against the Peak to Peak Pumas at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Liberty Common is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.

Liberty Common fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Resurrection Christian on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 7-5.

Liberty Common saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryson Weibler, who went 2-for-3 with three runs. The Eagles are 4-2 when Weibler posts two or more runs, but 3-7 otherwise. Bowyn Caudill was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Peak to Peak won against Denver Christian on Tuesday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Pumas narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Thunder 6-4. Winning may never get old, but the Pumas sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Cooper Campbell was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Dane Hirt, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Liberty Common's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Peak to Peak, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Liberty Common has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Peak to Peak struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
