Basketball Recap: Brownfield Comes Up Short

If Brownfield was feeling good fresh off their 97-34 takedown of Stanton last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Brownfield Cubs took a blow against the Permian Panthers on Friday, falling 80-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Cubs have suffered since February 16, 2024.

Brownfield's loss dropped their record down to 24-8. As for Permian, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 24-10 record this season.

Brownfield and Permian should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Brownfield (ranked 256th) will meet Kermit (ranked 1129th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Brownfield will be looking to extend their current 15-game winning streak. Similarly, Permian will square off against Montwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday up 132 places (128 vs. 260). Brownfield is looking to tack on another W to their ten-game streak on the road.
