Softball Recap: Atascadero Comes Up Short

Atascadero was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-2 to the Orcutt Academy Spartans, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Greyhounds were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 7-4.

Devyn Dutra was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 5.1 innings pitched. Dutra was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double.

Atascadero's record now sits at 5-15. As for Orcutt Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-9-1.

Looking ahead, Atascadero will host Templeton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Greyhounds surely won't give up without a fight. As for Orcutt Academy, they will venture away from home to face off against Pioneer Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
