Volleyball Recap: Pontotoc's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games + How To Watch

It was a good run, but Pontotoc unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-match winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Lafayette Commodores by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Commodores this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 back in September.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Pontotoc sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-27, 25-17, 17-25, 15-13.

Defeat or not, Pontotoc got some senior leadership from Sara Campos and Madi Collums. Campos had 24 digs and two aces, while Collums had 21 assists and 11 digs. Those 24 digs set a new season-high mark for Campos.

Pontotoc's loss dropped their record down to 16-15-1. As for Lafayette, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-19 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pontotoc will welcome Lanier at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lafayette, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Cleveland Central at 5:30 p.m.
