Softball Recap: Shawnee Makes It Nine in a Row at Home

Shawnee came tearing into Saturday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the London Red Raiders. The Braves' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three contests.

Alee Trimmer tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 15 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Shawnee let Maura Simpson and Lily Wilson run wild. Simpson went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple, while Wilson went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Wilson has posted over her last 13 games. Another player making a difference was Scarlett Crawford, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Shawnee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Shawnee pushed their record up to 21-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for London, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-7.

Coming up, Shawnee will square off against Graham Local at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.69 runs per game on average), something the Braves will no doubt try to take advantage of. London does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
