Basketball Game Preview: Gilbert Tigers vs. Prescott Badgers

Gilbert has won 13 straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Prescott has won 13 straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Gilbert Tigers will welcome the Prescott Badgers at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

If Gilbert beats Prescott with 61 points on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Everything went Gilbert's way against Highland on Thursday as Gilbert made off with a 61-40 victory. The score was close at the half, but the Tigers pulled away in the second half with 40 points.

Aspen McClees was her usual excellent self, going 10-for-18 on her way to 24 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Contessa Ivy, who posted six points in addition to ten boards and five assists.

Gilbert smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Prescott). They breezed past Mohave to the tune of 84-15 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Badgers in their matchups with the Thunderbirds: they've now won six in a row.

Gilbert is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.1 points over those games. As for Prescott, their victory bumped their record up to 21-6.
