McKeel Academy took a 41-point defeat the last time they faced off against Lakeland, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats slipped by the Dreadnaughts 61-60 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since December 13, 2024.

McKeel Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deion Drone, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten boards. Those ten rebounds gave Drone a new career-high. Michael Sams III was another key player, shooting 44% from the field en route to 22 points and five assists.

McKeel Academy's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Lakeland, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McKeel Academy and Mulberry will face off at 8:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played.
