Elly Ortiz was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Samantha Wilder, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one RBI.
Dodge City pushed their record up to 4-16 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Garden City, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
