Softball Recap: Highland Fighting Scots vs. Shelby Whippets
Highland took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Shelby, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Fighting Scots skirted past the Whippets 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Fighting Scots have posted since April 17, 2024.
Saylor Squires made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Maddy Stuckman was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Nevaeh DeWeese was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
