Preview: Chamois Pirates vs. St. Elizabeth Hornets

After three games on the road, Chamois is heading back home. They will take on the St. Elizabeth Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Monday, Chamois suffered a rough 68-45 loss at the hands of Christian Fellowship. While losing is never fun, Chamois can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 354th, while Christian Fellowship is ranked 176th).

Meanwhile, St. Elizabeth pushed their score all the way to 62 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 70-62 to South Callaway. St. Elizabeth has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Gavin Williams, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Isaac Green was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds.

Chamois' loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for St. Elizabeth, they now have a losing record at 10-11.

Chamois was dealt a bruising 74-25 loss at the hands of St. Elizabeth in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Chamois, Jace Kesel (who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 17 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
