Softball Recap: Yorktown Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Yorktown entered their tilt with Madison-Grant on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 12-7 victory over the Argylls. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Olivia Jones made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Jaromin, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Brooklyn Bartle was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Yorktown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.

Yorktown's record now sits at 16-4. As for Madison-Grant, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-8.

Looking ahead, Yorktown will host Pendleton Heights at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Madison-Grant, they are taking a road trip to take on Fort Wayne Northrop at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
