Baseball Recap: Union Grove Comes Up Short

Union Grove fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Westosha Central on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 4-3. The Broncos have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Cody Ashburn was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Leo Weist made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. Ethan Meves was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Union Grove now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Westosha Central, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Union Grove will be playing at home against Catholic Memorial at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Westosha Central, they will face off against Racine Case at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
