Basketball Recap: Seven Lakes' Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Seven Lakes came into Friday's matchup having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They rang in the new year with a 57-50 win over the Morton Ranch Mavericks on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Spartans also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Seven Lakes' victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 6-21. As for Morton Ranch, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 15 of their last 18 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season.

Seven Lakes and Morton Ranch could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Seven Lakes (ranked 724th) will meet Cinco Ranch (ranked 97th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Morton Ranch will take on Katy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 620 places (901 vs. 281).
