Recap: Belvidere Bucs vs. Harlem Huskies
After flying high against the Rockford East E-Rabs on Friday, the Belvidere Bucs came back down to earth. Belvidere fell just short of Harlem by a score of 40-38. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Belvidere in their matchups with Harlem: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Belvidere still got an impressive performance from Emma Pierson, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Pierson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Sternquist, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Belvidere has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season. As for Harlem, their victory bumped their record up to 9-12.
Belvidere and Hononegah will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hononegah is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road. As for Harlem, Harlem and Belvidere North will face off at 7:15 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Belvidere North is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
