Soccer Game Preview: Rancho Bernardo vs. Del Norte

The Rancho Bernardo Broncos will square off against the Del Norte Nighthawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Rancho Bernardo's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top against San Dieguito Academy by a score of 2-0. Given the Broncos' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while the Mustangs are ranked 636th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Del Norte's and Steele Canyon's contest on Friday was close at halftime, but Del Norte turned on the heat in the second half with two goals. Del Norte blew past Steele Canyon 3-0. The result kept the Nighthawks happy, as they haven't lost a game yet this season.

Rancho Bernardo pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored nine goals over those three matchups. As for Del Norte, their win bumped their record up to 5-0-2.

Rancho Bernardo suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to Del Norte when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Rancho Bernardo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
