Basketball Recap: Denton Falls Short of Chapin in the Playoffs

Denton and Chapin squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Denton had to settle for second. They fell 53-40 to the Chapin Huskies. The Broncos' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Denton lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Landon Verdin, who posted 12 points. That's the most points he has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Sheats, who had ten points.

Jayden Leverett was his usual excellent self, putting up 24 points for Chapin. The game was Leverett's third in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Garcia, who scored 11 points.

Denton's loss dropped their record down to 20-15. As for Chapin, the win (which was their 25th in a row) raised their record to 35-1.

Denton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chapin, they have already played their next contest, a 49-41 defeat against Birdville on the 28th.
