Basketball Recap: Manville Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

Manville lost to Dayton back in January of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Manville Mustangs took down the Dayton Bulldogs 45-31. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 338th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Dayton lost, don't look at Daniel Perez. Despite the final result, he posted ten points. What's more, Perez also posted a 57% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January. Matthew Ren also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Manville pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points over those games. As for Dayton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-14.

Looking ahead, Manville will challenge Shore Regional on February 26th. As for Dayton, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-66 win against Koinonia Academy on the 20th.
