Baseball Recap: Moon Valley Takes a Loss

Moon Valley extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 4-17. They lost 14-3 to the Goldwater Bulldogs. The Rockets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Fayaz Safa was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Rayden Singleton, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

As for Goldwater, the victory snapped their losing streak at 11 games and leaves them with a 6-13 record. They not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 6th (when they won 19-0).

On Goldwater's side, Ashton Thomson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Those ten strikeouts gave Thomson a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. He has become a key player for Goldwater: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-12 otherwise.

In other batting news, Connor Heather and Parker Windom did most of the damage at the plate: Heather got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, four RBI, and one triple, while Windom got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases Windom has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Nery Meza Lepe, who went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs.

While Moon Valley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
