Basketball Game Preview: Canyon Cougars vs. Steele Knights

Canyon is 0-10 against Steele since January of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Canyon Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Steele Knights at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Friday, Canyon was beaten by Judson 70-30. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 416th, while the Rockets are ranked third).

Meanwhile, Steele was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 54-47 to San Marcos.

Steele's defeat ended a 15-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 18-6. As for Canyon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-12.

Canyon took a serious blow against Steele in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 63-35. Can Canyon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
