Football Recap: Brookwood Broncos vs. Archer Tigers
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Brookwood had no problem doing just that on Friday. They beat the Archer Tigers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 42-21. Considering the Broncos have won seven games by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brookwood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brayden Tyson, who rushed for 144 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Tyson's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 120 rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Green, who rushed for 129 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Brookwood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 367 rushing yards. They rushed for 99 more rushing yards than Archer's also-impressive total of 268.
Another reason for the win was Brookwood's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. In that department, Xzavier Pfister was the leader with two. Brookwood got some further help from Daniel Diggs: he picked up a sack, made 15 total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defended one pass.
Defeat or not, Archer got some senior leadership from Jordan Do and Tyree Begne. Do rushed for 103 yards and two scores, while Begne rushed for 142 yards and one TD on only 13 carries. Those 142 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Begne.
