Basketball Recap: Palmetto Comes Up Short

Palmetto played a tough matchup on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Lakewood Spartans, falling 84-32. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-13.

Lakewood got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Alahni Lovett out in front who went 9 of 12 en route to 23 points. The contest was Lovett's third in a row with at least ten points. Jashara Presley also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Palmetto's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Lakewood, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palmetto has already played their next game (against Manatee), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Lakewood will take on Pinellas Park at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakewood knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten matchups -- so hopefully Pinellas Park likes a good challenge.
