Football Recap: Chatfield Piles Up the Points Against Denver East

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Ralston Valley, Chatfield was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They breezed past the Denver East Angels to the tune of 55-18. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 34 points or more this season.

Chatfield's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cash Williams, who threw for 326 yards and four TDs while completing 72.2% of his passes, and also rushed for 39 yards. Those 326 passing yards gave Williams a new career-high. Donny Runyan was in the mix as well, providing Chatfield with three scores.

Chatfield didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Jack Anobile, Johnny Freeman, and Ryder Hoffschneider picked up one apiece. Anobile also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with seven. Freeman got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Denver East lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was James Pillivant, who picked up 120 receiving yards and one touchdown. He got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 70 yards. Another receiver making a difference was Jack Ehrlich, who picked up 110 receiving yards and one TD.

Chatfield's record now sits at 3-4. As for Denver East, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Chatfield has already played their next matchup, a 33-16 victory against Denver South on the 17th. As for Denver East, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 48-0 loss against Arvada West on the 17th.
