Preview: Hudson Cobras vs. Fivay Falcons

Hudson has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge The Fivay Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hudson put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 52-0 victory over Anclote. Given Hudson's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 158th, while Anclote is ranked 528th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hudson can attribute much of their success to Logan Shawell, who rushed for 103 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. Anthony (Aj) Mcfarlane did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 105 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Fivay earned a 27-15 victory over River Ridge on Friday. The win was just what Fivay needed coming off of a 54-14 defeat in their prior match.

Fivay's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Samuel Monfre, who picked up 148 receiving yards and a touchdown. Monfre's longest reception was for an incredible 74 yards. Another player making a difference was Ayden Wallace, who threw for 167 yards and two touchdowns on only six passes.

The team's defense also helped out by holding River Ridge to a paltry 217 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Fivay's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out eight times before it was all said and done. It was a group effort, with three guys contributing.

Hudson's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Fivay, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Hudson took their win against Fivay when the teams last played back in November of 2022 by a conclusive 34-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hudson since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
