Football Recap: Mize Comes Up Short

Mize and Heidelberg squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Mize had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Oilers, falling 46-14. The Bulldogs' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Mize still got an impressive performance from Jack Garner, who rushed for 91 yards and one TD. Garner didn't just play on offense: he also made 12 total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended one pass.

Chase Craft produced another solid effort rushing for 95 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 154 yards and a pair of TDs on only 12 passes for Heidelberg. Kaden Porter was another key player, rushing for 65 yards and one score on only nine carries.

Mize's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Heidelberg, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-2.

Mize does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Heidelberg, they will host East Webster at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Oilers 9, the Wolverines 10.3) so any points scored will be well earned.
