Softball Game Preview: Coleville Wolves vs. Pyramid Lake Lakers

Coleville is 7-1 against Pyramid Lake since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Wolves will venture away from home to challenge the Lakers at 2:00 p.m. Coleville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 14.2 runs per game this season.

Coleville is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game last Friday. They came up short against Non Varsity Opponent, falling 10-3.

Leslie Acero was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last five games she's played. Cora Harshman also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Pyramid Lake made easy work of Mineral County on Saturday and carried off a 12-2 win. The Lakers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by seven runs or more this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Pyramid Lake and bumps their season record up to 8-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Coleville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Coleville came out on top in a nail-biter against Pyramid Lake in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 11-10. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
