Soccer Game Preview: Wayland-Cohocton vs. Hornell

Wayland-Cohocton is 1-8-1 against Hornell since October of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Eagles will head out to take on the Red Raiders at 6:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Wayland-Cohocton had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the four-goal drubbing they dealt Perry on Tuesday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Yellowjackets with a sharp 5-1 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Wayland-Cohocton's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' New York soccer rankings (they are ranked 136th, while Perry are ranked 375th).

Meanwhile, Hornell kept a clean sheet against Caledonia-Mumford on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Raiders. Considering Hornell have won seven matches by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Wayland-Cohocton's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those three matchups. As for Hornell, their victory bumped their record up to 11-0-2.
