Where are they now? Class of 2004 top football recruits

Has it been 10 years already?

The high school Class of 2004 produced arguably two of the greatest players at their position in NFL history in Adrian Peterson and Calvin Johnson.

Peterson was the consensus No. 1 overall recruit by both Tom Lemming, who wrote for ESPN at the time, and Rivals. The Palestine (Texas) running back was a 5-star recruit across the board.



Johnson, on other hand, was not. The 6-4, 210-pound wide receiver from Sandy Creek (Tyrone, Ga.) at the time was a 4-star recruit, ranked No. 37 overall by Rivals, and was not in Tom Lemming's Top 100.

Early Doucet, Cameron Colvin, Fred Davis, and Lance Leggett were all ranked above Johnson. Only Fred Davis got drafted and remains in the NFL (pending suspension).

A total of eight players from the Class of 2004 have won a Super Bowl. Marshawn Lynch went "beast mode" with the Seahawks this past year. The former Oakland Tech (Calif.) running back was a 4-star recruit by Rivals and not ranked in Lemming's Top 100.

Although recruiting rankings are heavily based on how a player will do in college, it's still interesting to see how many had — or are still having — success at the NFL level.

A total of 136 players either landed on Lemming's Top 100 list, Rivals or both.
