Softball Recap: Smith County Owls vs. Watertown Purple Tigers
Smith County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 15-2 to the Watertown Purple Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Smith County of the 6-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture last Tuesday.
For Watertown's part, Kayla McGuire looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits.
On the hitting side, Rachel Cromer was incredible, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Wood, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.
Smith County's loss dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Watertown, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 17-5.
As of now, neither Smith County nor Watertown have any future games scheduled.
