Softball Recap: Raleigh Sets Scoring Season-High Against St. Andrew's Episcopal

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Raleigh). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the St. Andrew's Episcopal Saints a 21-0 shutout on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Lions needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Kallee McWilliams made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Haylee Buffington was a standout: she scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lydia Bryant, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Raleigh's win bumped their record up to 5-13. As for St. Andrew's Episcopal, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Raleigh is set to take on their familiar foe Pelahatchie at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, St. Andrew's Episcopal will square off against rival Pisgah at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
