Football Recap: Arroyo Valley Hawks vs. Fontana Steelers

After soaring to 51 points the game before, Arroyo Valley was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They had to suffer through a 40-8 loss at the hands of the Fontana Steelers. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Steelers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.

Winston Velasquez had an outrageously good game for Fontana as he picked up 116 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Velasquez showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 50 yards. Akari Augustine was in the mix too, providing Fontana with two touchdowns.

Arroyo Valley's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Fontana, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arroyo Valley will square off against Carter at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
