Softball Recap: Bucktail Victorious

While Bucktail's win against Moshannon Valley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bucks won by a run and slipped past the Black Knights/Damsels 10-9. The Bucks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Black Knights/Damsels on Monday, too.

The team relied heavily on Makenna Stone, who went 4-for-5 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last ten games she's played. Kendall Wagner was another key player, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Bucktail kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Bucktail's record is now 5-6. As for Moshannon Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Bucktail will take on Sugar Valley Rural at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Phoenix have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 20.71 runs per game on average), something the Bucks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Moshannon Valley, they will face off against Curwensville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Black Knights/Damsels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Tide have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
