Softball Recap: Ludlowe Gets the Win

Ludlowe won the last time they faced Staples and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Falcons came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wreckers, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Falcons have posted since June 8, 2024.

Finley Dean spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Ludlowe saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaitlyn Scotto, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Those two hits gave Scotto a new career-high.

The win made it two in a row for Ludlowe and bumps their season record up to 7-9. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Staples, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Coming up, Ludlowe will head out to take on Darien at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Wave's pitching crew has only allowed 1.7 runs per game this season, so the Falcons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Staples, they will face off against Danbury at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wreckers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hatters have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
