Baseball Recap: Willamina Comes Up Short

Willamina extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-10. They lost 14-0 to the Taft Tigers. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

As for Taft, they pushed their record up to 14-0 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games.

For Taft's part, Merek Seals made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Seals was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Alejandro Hernandez was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Logan Lovell was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple.

While Willamina had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
